Solving Complex Enterprise Workflows

As Lead Product Designer, I led the end-to-end product strategy, UX research, interaction design, and visual design for a gamified learning platform that transformed traditional case studies into short, engaging quiz experiences.

Executive Summary

SmartDoc is a mobile-first concept designed to solve one of healthcare’s most persistent challenges: helping physicians complete mandatory Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements without adding to an already overwhelming workload.

Problem Statement

I work long hours under impossibly stressful conditions. I need to earn CME credits and stay up-to-date in an efficient & fun way.

Problem Statement

I am curious to test drive Postgres in the cloud,
but it’s new to me and I’m not sure how to get started

Business Challenges

Business Challenges

Healthcare professionals (HCPs) work 60+ hours/week with little free time

  • Database professionals (DP) have data estates across multiple database vendors

HCPs have many options for continuing medical education (CME) requirements

  • DPs are seeking ways to reduce costs for their data warehouses

HCPs delay and wait until the last minute to meet CME credits requirements

  • DPs are moving towards more unified governance over their data estates

HCPs are slow to adopt new learning modes

  • DPs are often seeking an off ramp from Oracle

HCPs generally avoid public/social presence

  • DPs are a bit hesitant to migrate to open-source solutions like Postgres

Product User Challenges

Product User Challenges

DPs allocate very little time to evaluate new tools

  • HCPs are tied to other more standard learning modalities for CME credits

DPs come from on-premise DB world and are much less familiar with cloud infrastructure, security, and management

  • HCPs are not typically gamers, so some of the standard gaming patterns may be not come naturally

DPs have operated in Oracle for decades, but are now being urged by CFOs to seek more affordable alternatives

  • HCPs commonly dedicate lots of time to their patients, but are not accustomed to having social time/outlet with their peers

DPs and CSOs are highly concerned with security of cloud products

  • HCPs loathe the standard CME credit process, so all things CME-related feel like an arduous unwanted forced task
